21-year-old Japanese-Canadian model Marie to host Oscar red carpet coverage

by Chris MaGee

Okay, I guess this is one for the guys out there, or the ladies for that matter, plus it's got a Canadian connection. 21-year-old model and TV tarento Marie (マリエ) has been tagged by cable broadcaster The Japanese Movie Channel to host their Oscar night coverage which they are calling "Oscar Red Carpet & Party LIVE!" The announcement was made at a press conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Tokyo on Monday, with Marie showing up in a decidedly slinky Mark Jacob gown and decked out in BVLGARI jewelery to wow the assembled reporters. Marie, the wealthy daughter of a Québécois automobile importer father and a Japanese mother, will be doing the usual OOO-ing, Ahhh-iong and "What are you wearing?" for the broadcast, and no doubt she will snag "Departures" star Masahiro Motoki and director Yokiro Takita who will be attending the awards on February 22nd in Hollywood hoping to pick up a Best Foreign Language Oscar.

Thanks to Cinema Today for the Wednesday eye candy.
