English translation of "Detroit Metal City" manga to be released by Viz in June

Okay, this isn't brand new news (word filtered out in late November), but the Pow-Wow hasn't reported on it before so I just wanted to be on record by saying that the first volume of Kiminori Wakasugi's original 2005 manga "Detroit Metal City" is being released here in North America by Viz Media in English translation on June 9th. Of course all you Japanese film fans know or may have been lucky enough to have already seen Toshio Lee's hilarious live-action adaptation starring Ken'ichi Matsuyama as both mild-mannered Negishi Soichi and death metal icon Johannes Krauser II, so you may want to check this manga release out.

"Detroit Metal City, Vol. 1" will be distributed here in Canada by the folks at Simon & Schuster and is already available for pre-order on Amazon with the second volume listed as coming out in September. So, get your cake make-up, black leather and studs on in anticipation of this, kids!
