Osaka's Acid Mothers Temple hit Toronto's El Mocambo on April 14th

by Chris MaGee

Okay, this isn't a film-related story, but it's rare that we get a Japanese rock band coming through Toronto, the home of the J-Film Pow-Wow, so I'd feel a bit negligent if I didn't make at least a brief mention of this, so here goes: The J-Film Pow-Wow's biggest fan, Rosin Duoer (Hi Rosin!) emailed in to let us know that psychedelic rock collective Acid Mothers Temple is hitting the El Mocambo on Tuesday, April 14th. Started up by guitarist Makoto Kawabata in 1995 the band mixes everything from 60s prog rock through German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen and electronic duo Tangerine Dream to come up with the perfect soundtrack to taking hit after hit of acid. (Not that I'm advocating that sort of thing mind you...)

You can check out ticket details at the El Mocambo's site here while turning on, tuning in and dropping out to an Acid Mothers Temple performance shot at the band's gig at Lee's Palace in Toronto last year. Groovy!!!
