Well, we're only a couple weeks away from Nippon Connection 2009, and to stir all us Japanese film lovers into a lather the official site has been updated with the full schedule of films and events. Now attendees of the five day festival starting on the 15th in Frankfurt will not only have such films as Sion Sono's "Love Exposure", Kazuyoshi Kumakiri's "Non-ko", and Ryuichi Honda's "GS Wonderland" to look forward to, but also an explosion of Japanese cultural events like a Butoh dance workshop, a seminar on Ko-do, the Japanese scent ceremony, a cosplay exhibit, a performance by benshi Hirono Yamada, lectures, demos, etc., etc., etc.
If that wasn't enough Nippon Connection have posted their list of filmmakers and guests that will be attending this year, which includes the aforementioned Kazuyoshi Kumakiri and Ryuichi Honda, as well as pinku eiga legend Mamuru Watanabe, "Ain't no Tomorrows" director Yuki Tanada, "Tokyo Sonata" producer Yukie Kito... and some guy named Chris MaGee. Geez, who let the riff raff in?
Make sure to check out all the details at Nippon Connection 2009's official site here.
