Zac Efron to star in an upcoming live-action "Full Metal Panic!" remake

by Chris MaGee

Geez... Wasn't it just yesterday that I was joking about how Leonardo DiCaprio's proposed casting of all five members of SMAP in his live-action "Ninja Scroll" remake was the equivalent of Koji Yakusho making a film with the cast of "High School Musical"? Don't worry Yakusho isn't making a film with them, but Mandalay Pictures is planning on casting Zac Efron in a live action remake of Shoji Gatoh and Shiki Douji's light novel series/manga/ anime "Full Metal Panic!" The "High School Musical" star will star as Sousuke Sagara, a sergeant, who must protect high school girl Kaname Chidori from a network of terrorists using giant robots.

There's not much more news on this proposed project than Efron's name being attached to it, but frankly that's about as much as I can take right now. I'm not sure whether I should thank Tokyograph for the details on this, but I'll be a gentleman and do it anyway.
