Finally a look at some zombie samurai from Naoto Takenaka's "Yamagata Scream"

by Chris MaGee

From the sublime to the just plain silly. If after checking out the gallery of stills from Kore-eda's "Kuuki Ningyou (Air Doll)" you wanted to take things down a few intellectual notches then there'd be no better solution to check out the full gallery of stills from Naoto Takenaka's upcoming zombie comedy "Yamagata Scream" over at Cinema Today. You heard that right - a full gallery of stills from "Yamagata Scream". This production has been pretty damn secretive, which is strange for a goofball comedy, and after having spoken to a few people who have actually seen the film the reason becomes obvious why that's been the case. Apparently the film is bad... really bad, which is a bit of a let down for me because I think that Takenaka is a pretty damn funny guy. If you've seen him in "Shall We Dance?" and his brief cameo in Takashi Miike's "Happiness of the Katakuri's" you'll know what I mean.

Anyway, if you want to see more samurai zombies decked out like they're going on a weekend vacation, like the shot of Takenaka above, then head over to Cinema Today here and have your expectations lowered. "Yamagata Scream" is set to be released in Japan in September.
