It looks like the phenomenal success that actor Shun Oguri has enjoyed in the past couple years heading up the cast of both of Takashi Miike's "Crows Zero" films has opened the door to some exciting new opportunities. The 26-year-old actor is gearing up to direct his first feature film titled "Surely Someday", said to be a youth oriented film starring "a cast of handsome actors". Not many more details than that at the moment I'm afraid.
While this is the first time helming a feature this isn't the first time that Oguri has worked behind the camera. He was responsible for directing the short "Manners" commercial that screened ahead of "Crows Zero II" in Japanese theatres. That short featured Oguri and his castmates demonstrating how not to behave in a movie theatre. Embedding has been disabled on it, but you can check that commercial out at YouTube here. Add to this experience the fact that Oguri can always turn to his father, stage director Tetsuya Oguri, for advice and hopefully "Surely Someday" will be a success.
Thanks to Tokyograph for this story. More details on Oguri's "Surely Someday" as they leak out.
