Author and Shinsedai Cinema Festival co-programmer Jasper Sharp gets his own website

by Chris MaGee

Anyone out there who knows and loves Japanese cinema knows the name Jasper Sharp. Along with Tom Mes Sharp co-founded the grandfather of all Japanese film websites, MidnightEye.com in 2001. Since then he's co-authored "The Midnight Eye Guide to New Japanese Film" as well as solely authoring "Behind the Pink Curtain: The Complete History of Japanese Sex Cinema". Along with these titles he's the Japanese film programmer for the Raindance Film Festival in the United Kingdom, and most recently he's teamed up with the J-Film Pow-Wow to create and co-programme The Shinsedai Cinema Festival right here in Toronto.

If all that wasn't enough Sharp has just launched his own website, JasperSharp.com. The site is still getting filled with content, but this will obviously be a regular stop for Japanese film fans on their daily rounds online. Congrats to Jasper, and here's looking forward to seeing him here in Toronto from August 21st to 23rd for The Shinsedai Cinema Festival.
