October saw news of one of the screens most loved super heroes slipping into his leotard again. No, not Batman. Not Superman. We're talking about Zebraman! news of Takashi Miike and Sho Aikawa teaming up to film a sequel to the 2004 super hero comedy made a lot of genre film fans very happy, even if it meant that Zebraman would be returning with some memory loss issues. It's okay though. Apparently as Zebraman battles evil 25-years after the events of the first film he'll have a little bit of help. Who? A trio of miniskirt-wearing body guards.
This past week not only did we get word of these ladies, but Todd Brown at Twitch (and Don Brown), reported that these bodyguards would be getting their own straight-to-DVD prequel to "Zebraman 2" titled "Revenge of the Zebra Miniskirt Police". Miike assistant director Kenichiro Nishiumi will be helming the film, due out on video store shelves in Japan in April, but so far there's not much word on plot or if Sho Aikawa will be starring alongside his guards. Hell, with a title like "Revenge of the Zebra Miniskirt Police" do we really need a plot summary though? There are female cops in miniskirts getting revenge... for something. Enough said.
There's also no trailer floating around for "Revenge of the Zebra Miniskirt Police", but here's the next best thing - the trailer for "Zebraman 2" coming out in Japan in May.
