My Darling is a Foreigner - Kazuaki Ue (2010)

A film dedicated to all the cross-cultural couples out there. Based on Saori Oguri’s autobiographical manga "My Dariling is a Foreigner" stars Mao Inoue as, no surprise here, a manga artist whose fiance, played by Johnathan Sherr, is a foreign journalist. The film follows the ups and downs of their relationship as they face love and family prejudice together. "My Darling is a Foreigner", directed by Kazuaki Ue, is due out in Japanese theatres on April 10th. Get those Kleenex boxes ready!

Mandala - Akio Jissoji (1971)

Japanese New Wave filmmaker Akio Jissoji explores Buddhist themes and issues of group psychology in "Mandala", the central film of his early 70's trilogy completed by 1970's "This Transient Life" and 1972's "Poem". A group of young people become involved in a religious cult that's equal parts orgy and philosophical discussion.
