Nippon Cinema, Shochiku has released a new trailer for "BECK," a live-action adaptation of the manga of the same name by author Harold Sakuishi. Directed by "20th Century Boys" director Yukihiko Tsutsumi and starring Takeru Sato, Hiro Mizushima, Osamu Mukai, Kenta Kiritani and Aoi Makamura, the film will depict the journey of a group of high school students who form the titular band and steadily rise to enough prominence to be invited to a rock festival. Merely from the synopsis, it seems the film might be treading the same cinematic waters as the much beloved "Linda Linda Linda," but whether it will be as good as it is still a mystery. Regardless, you can start forming your own expectations by viewing the trailer either at the film's
main website or
Youtube (depending on which country you live in).
"BECK" will be released in Japan on September 4th, 2010.

if you haven't read the manga or seen the anime adaptation, i do recommend it. the anime was terrific and actually got me to buy the soundtrack, something I've done very rarely. I am intrigued by this movie; It clearly follows a similar trajectory plot-wise, but if they can make the music work as integrally as it did in the anime, this movie may turn out to be a winner.
