Takashi Murakami enlists help of "Beck" director for upcoming anime for Versailles exhibition

by Chris MaGee

Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami has never limited himself to just painting or sculpture. Murakami's manga and anime inspired works, which he has dubbed "Superflat", have also branched into filmmaking and animation. The most recent example of this was the music video "Akihabara Majokko Princess" conceived by Murakami, directed by blockbuster helmer McG and starring Hollywood actress Kirsten Dunst.

Now Murakami has conceived and comissioned a new animated film titled "Six Hearts Princess" for his upcoming exhibition Murakami Versailles (above) which will be showcased in the Grand Apartment and Hall of Mirrors of France's 17th-century Palace of Versailles from September 14th to December 12th. Murakami will be getting some big name help from the world of anime with this new short film, specifically "Beck" and "Paradise Kiss" director Osamu Kobayashi and "Voices of a Distant Star" producer Hiroaki Takeuchi.

You can head over to Anime News Network to get a peek at a leaked promotional still from the film. Thanks to them for bringing us this piece of news.

That Murakami really is something. I'm looking forward to the floats he's showcasing at this year's Thanksgiving Parade.

Speaking of Kirsten Dunst, I compiled a list of which female celebrity Murakami should go after next for future projects. You can take a look at:
