3D TV comes on the market in Japan

I thought this would be a good candidate for a “just for fun” post. We’ve already heard about the oncoming 3D revolution in theatres with James “Titanic” Cameron’s “Avatar” in the works, but this might be the first step in introducing the medium to Japanese audiences.

Mark Shilling at Variety Asia Online is reporting that Hyundai has just released the E465 3-D TV which comes with snazzy Rayban-style glasses to give you the full 3D experience. This will now allow viewers to catch some of the 3D broadcasts that Nippon BS Broadcasting has been airing since December.

I did a bit of poking around online and found that the TVs had been showcased at this year’s Tokyo International Anime Fair (the booth in the photo above), which could have been a very interesting venue for the new technology. If you’re a hentai fan those tentacles will come popping right out at’cha!
