“Manga Zombie” translated/ posted online

New from the Anime News Network this morning about what sounds like a really interesting online publication. John Gallagher, an Irish writer living in Japan has translated a book titled “Manga Zombie”, an exploration of underground and cult manga artists. Written by Takeo Udagawa in 1997 in order to “open up a wide range of lesser-known but valuable artists to the attention of the English-speaking world,” it looks like a fascinating read, but while there are large portions of the book posted online they are only portions at the moment. Gallagher and Udagawa have gone the electronic route in order to drum up interest from potential backers for a print publication, so if there are any interested parties out there…

I’m going to be reading through this myself. Manga is still a subject that I’m navigating my way through, so here’s to learning about this together.
