First poster/ official synopsis for Takeshi Kaneshiro’s “K-20” hits the net

by Chris MaGee

As we reported last month Takeshi Kaneshiro will be starring as the Edogawa Rampo villain The Fiend with Twenty Faces in the upcoming Shimako Sato film “K-20”, but according to the promotional flier that Twitch has snagged it looks as if Sato will be turning this super villain into Japan’s answer to “V for Vendetta” or “Zorro”.

Set in an alternative Japan where 90% of the wealth is controlled by a small group of aristocrats (this is supposed to be an alternative universe???) and the only advocate for the poor is a mysterious thief… you got it, “The Fiend” is now “The Thief “… who robs from the rich and gives to the poor. When circus acrobat Endo Heikichi (Kaneshiro) is mistakenly arrested as The Thief he must escape from prison and with the help of the beautiful Hashiba Yoko (Takako Matsu) and her fiancé, and Edogawa Rampo’s most famous character, Detective Akechi Kogoro, he must find out who the real “Thief” is. I’m assuming that with this guy mixing it up with 20 different faces this will be quite the task. Should be a lot of fun.

“K-20” is set to hit theatres next year.
