BitTorrent to feature Japanese content in conjunction with two Tokyo technology conventions

by Chris MaGee

As part of both the Interpop Tokyo 2008 and the IMC Tokyo 2008 conventions BitTorrent is planning to webcast 29 Japanese films and anime, as well as trailers for upcoming films. The two conventions highlight internet-based technologies for advertising and business so the cross-promotion with BitTorrent, one of the most popular peer-to-peer file sharing sites in the world, is a perfect fit.

Amongst the films being included are Yoshimitsu Morita's 2007 comedy/ drama “South Bound”, Nobuhiko Obayashi's 2007 body exchanging, coming-of-age drama "Tenkosei sayonara anata", and Kei Horie’s 2005 tearjerker “Veronica Decides to Die”. Add these to all the other films that end up (somehow) on BitTorrent and you have a downloading field day in the offing.

All us Japanese cinema fans (and film downloaders…) have to thank Variety Asia Online for this report.
