Don’t expect any teary bonding or celebrity fisticuffs when super producer and former president of Studio Ghibli and The Flanneled one himself, George Lucas meet up for a cross-promotional sit down on Japanese TV. Besides some talk about the popularity of anime in North America and Lucas autographing a stuffed parrot the discussion mostly centers around the latest installment of the “Indiana Jones” movies as well as Suzuki announcing that Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy will be brought on board as producers for the U.S. release of “Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea”.
The one thing that I got out of this… and I’m just speaking for me on this… is that North American TV should have more sound effects in their news items. The entertainment news would be that much more entertaining with swords clanging, bells tinkling and dramatic flourishes from the brass section of the orchestra, don’t you think?
Thanks to Ghibli World for the report.
