Back in April we told you about Masaki Adachi’s upcoming big screen adaptation of Japanese horror writer Otsuichi’s short story “Shinizokonai no Ao”, but today there’s good news about the project posted at Nippon Cinema. Apparently Mitsuki Tanimura will also be a part of the story of a young boy, played by Kenta Suga, who seeks revenge on an abusive teacher (Yu Shirota). Tanimura seems to be playing either a spirit or a manifestation of the boy’s imagination as she had to endure three hours of make up to be appear blue and covered in scars (as you can see from the photo above).
Frankly I’d be fine with Tanimura showing up covered in purple polka dots because she’s such a good actress she could make it work. It’s an added bonus that the script for “Shinizokonai no Ao” was written by Toshiyuki Morioka who also wrote the screenplay for one of my all time favorite yakuza films “Another Lonely Hitman”.
“Shinizokonai no Ao” is set to hit theatres later this year.
