Nanbara and Nagasaku team up for literary adaptation

by Chris MaGee

Comedian Kiyotaka Nanbara, one half of manzai duo Uchan Nanchan and actress and former J-Pop idol Hiromi Nagasaku are set to co-star in an adaptation of famed author Kiyoshi Shigematsu’s best-seller “Sono Hi no Mae ni”, the story of a husband and son who must struggle to keep on living after their wife/ mother is diagnosed with a terminal illness. Nagasaku, who has previously starred in various TV dramas and had a role in Toshiaki Toyoda’s “Hanging Garden” went method for her role and lost 4 kilograms and lopped off her long locks to play the ailing mother. Sounds like something you’ll need to bring a box of Kleenex to. “Sono Hi no Mae ni” is set to hit Japanese theatres in November.
