Horror manga adaption "Higanjima" gets a heroine

by Chris MaGee

We've been following production on Tae-Gyun Kim's and Tetsuya Oishi's big screen adaptation of Koji Matsumoto's horror manga "Higanjima" since it was announced back in July (read our reports here and here). The film will tell the story of a young man named Akira who must travel to an island ruled by vampires to search for his missing brother. Japanese media tarento Koji Yamamoto has already been cast as Akira and "Crows Zero" star Dai Watanabe will also be appearing in the film, but now it looks as if "Higanjima" has secured its heroine.

17-year-old Miori Takimoto, former member of the frightening J-idol group SweetS (if you don't believe me check out this truly frightening video) will be making her acting debut as Akira's love interest. Well, all I can say is if her acting sucks she can always bust a move and beat the vampires in a dance off.

Thanks to Tokyograph for this story.
