First we have the New York Asian Film Festival announcing their first line-up picks on the East Coast and now we have the full line-up for the 2nd Annual Los Angeles Japan Film Festival on the West Coast. I've been waiting for news on this since we reported on the free lecture given by "Tokyo Sonata" director Kiyoshi Kurosawa that took place on March 10th at UCLA in conjunction with the LAJFF, and now that all 21 films have been revealed it definitely looks like Japanese film fans in the LA area are in for a treat.
The programmers of the fest taking place between April 10th and 19th in L.A. and then for two day, April 25th and 26th in Irvine, have pulled together everything from brand new films that will premiere in L.A. for the first time to classics. Some of these include Mamoru Oshii's "The Sky Crawlers", Daihachi Yoshida's "Funuke Show Me Some Love, You Losers!", Fumihiko Sori's "Ichi", Kazuhiro Soda's "Campaign", and Shohei Imamura's "Vengeance is Mine".
For the full line-up head to the official site for the Los Angeles Japan Film Festival here. Thanks to SciFi Japan for the snazzy poster for this year's fest.
