Itsuji Itao plays the hero in Noboru Iguchi's "Denjin Zaborgar"

by Chris MaGee

It was just last week when we reported that "Machine Girl" director Noboru Iguchi was bringing the campy 1970s tokusatsu TV series "Denjin Zaborgar" to the big screen in a zany, over-the-top remake. At that point all the info we had were just a few behind the scenes shots, but just a week later some major casting news has come out about "Denjin Zaborgar" via Nippon Cinema.

It has been announced that comedian Itsuji Itao will be starring in the main role of Yutaka Daimon, the man who controls the robot-turned-motorcycle and the motorcycle-turned-robot Zaborgar. The pair battle an evil underground organization called Sigma. Besides Itao, who has also starred in such films as Toshiaki Toyoda's "Hanging Garden" and Yoshihiro Nishimura's "Tokyo Gore Police", "Denjin Zaborgar" will also star Naoto Takenaka as Yutaka Daimon's father, Akira Emoto as the mastermind behind Sigma and Mami Yamasaki as his female major domo named Miss Borg.

Look for "Denjin Zaborgar" to be released in the spring of 2011.
