Don't worry, after all this talk of remakes the above picture does not indicate a remake of "The Amityville Horror" by Hideo Nakata, although that might not necessarily be a bad thing. No, Blake Etheridge has posted the second part of his video interview (you can find a link to the first part here) with the "Ringu" and "Dark Water" director at Twitch and Nakata discusses not only how the original series of "Amityville" films influenced his filmmaking, but also the debt he owes to Japanese filmmaker Nobuo Nakagawa, best known here in North America for his films "Snake Woman's Curse" and "Jigoku". Nakata relates how he watched the original "Amityville Horror" and Nakagawa's 1959 film "Tokaido Yotsuya Kaidan" over and over and how, as a tribute to Nakagawa's influence, cast "Jigoku" star Yoichi Numata in "Ringu".
